Let's talk about money first: Of course, election manipulator Antonio Fernández Arimany, fake president of World Triathlon and vice-president of the International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS), wants to increase his honorarium for 2026. From USD 194,500 by 18 per cent to USD 229,500. The budget for the expenses of the president and executive board is set to rise by a further 36 per cent.
That's how it is in Olympic sport. Even if these amounts are comparatively small (FIFA officials would casually blow a quarter of a million in one evening at Salt Bae), it is still money that is being taken out of the sporting cycle and not benefiting the athletes. Especially since, surprisingly, World Triathlon made a loss in the last Olympic year, 2024. Especially since World Triathlon could not exist without the Olympic royalties from the International Olympic Committee. Especially since the in-house Audit, Risk & Integrity Committee states ...
"We have and will experience short time pressure on our finances … due to the fragile ecosystem of large-scale events and the continued economic uncertainty, which contributed to a 25% decrease in the forecasted income for the year. We continue to be mindful of the effects this will have on TRI's financial capabilities in the coming years. … we remind our colleagues that without our sport in the Summer Games and its resultant financial windfall, TRI would not be able to function at the level it continues to do.
Therefore, we must continue the work which has started, to become less dependent on these monies and to continue to grow our own independent revenue streams."
... and especially since the auditors are complaining:
"We have noticed that several cash expense entries were recorded without going through vendor accounts. Risk: Recording expenses without using accounts payable can result in misstatements of liabilities and vendor discrepancies."
That's how corruption usually starts.
But what can you expect from an Olympic IF and its mafia-like leadership clique (The Group) where so-called election results are distributed as voting instructions to the reliable foot soldiers, who then vote exactly as instructed.
